The 12th Children's Goods Industry Congress on Sustainable Development for Childhood has opened at Expocentre Fairgrounds. It takes place in a hybrid format with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. Heads of companies involved in the production and distribution of children's goods, media products, e-commerce, and the rights holders of children's brands meet in the halls of Expocentre Fairgrounds and online.

The Children's Goods Industry Congress is a major industry event held to organise dialogue between business and government, promote the best practices of industry leaders, and form new tools for international and scientific and production cooperation.

Opening the congress, Antonina Tsitsulina, President of the Association of Children's Goods Industry Enterprises, noted the importance of this industry for the country's economy. She said that the market volume is 840 billion roubles, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Russian manufacturers account for 27 per cent of this market.

Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Duma, the Federation Council, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, Rospotrebnadzor, Rosstandart, the Federal Customs Service, the Federal Tax Service, and public authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are taking part in the conference programme of the Congress.

Over the course of two days, the Congress participants will discuss the industry's most pressing issues: the results of and prospects for the children's goods industry, government support for domestic manufacturers and the participation of their products in lists of national projects and government programmes, financial instruments for the development of medium and small businesses, the development of partnerships between manufacturers and scientific institutions, new ideas and technologies for industrial production.

The Interstate Technical Committee for Standardisation "Toys and Goods for Childhood" will meet on 16 December as part of the work of the Congress. The profile committee on standardisation, of which 6 CIS countries are members, was created on the initiative of the Russian side. On December 16, the presentation of the handbook for industry professionals on certification "Navigator for the Children’s Goods Industry: Childhood Safety" will take place.

The Green Industry: Vectors of Development, Producer Responsibility and Sources of Financing for the Closed Loop Industry session will be devoted to the issues of ecology of production, recycling and producer responsibility.

During the course of the Congress, it is planned to discuss many of the industry's topical issues, formulate proposals to improve support mechanisms for Russian manufacturers of children's goods, and present best regional practices for supporting the children's goods industry and property measures to support families with children.

The 12th Children's Goods Industry Congress on Sustainable Development for Childhood will conclude on December 17 with a meeting of the Presidential Council for Implementation of the State Policy in the Field of Family and Children Protection "Children's Goods Industry: State, Problems, Development Prospects", where the main issues of the industry agenda will be discussed. On the same day, an exhibition of domestic manufacturers of children's goods will be presented on the platform of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
