Russian Health Care Week 2021 has opened at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The Week was included in the plan of main events of the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation in 2021.

The main objective of the Week and its component international exhibitions Zdravookhraneniye, Healthy Lifestyle, MedTravelExpo. Medical Clinics, Health and Spa Resorts is assistance in implementing the national projects Health Care and Demography, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the federal project Development of the Export of Medical Services. Leading Russian and foreign manufacturers will demonstrate the latest medical technologies and innovative developments, as well as the services of the health resort industry.

As part of the summing up of the Year of Science and Technology in Medicine, over 60 major supporting events in various areas of health care will be the key events of the Week conference programme. The participants will discuss trends in the development of global and Russian medicine, with one of the main topics being the counteraction of new coronavirus infection (Covid-19). Particular attention will be paid to support scientific activities, mentoring and employment of young medical scientists and specialists.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health Care of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Dmitry Khubezov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, Yuri Arkharov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, Oleg Bochkarev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Kurochkin, Vice-President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tatiana Batysheva, Deputy of the Moscow City Duma, Director of the Moscow Health Care Department’s Children's Psycho-neurology Center, Yuri Kalinin, President of the Union of Associations and Enterprises of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry, Alexey Vyalkin, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO and others.

Mikhail Murashko, in his welcoming speech, briefly outlined the industry's successes this year. "I would like to thank the organisers of the exhibition, the manufacturers and developers, the medical organisations that are exhibiting at this event today”, he said. “Despite the difficult period and high workload, you find time to present, show and promote new Russian developments for the health care industry".

Dmitry Khubezov noted that "for several decades this exhibition has been a platform where a dialogue has been built between leading manufacturers of medical equipment and medical goods on the one hand, and practicing doctors on the other. We have always listened to the recommendations and conclusions of this Week. Many of them have formed the basis of the legislative acts we have adopted”.

Yuri Arkharov read out a greeting to the Week from Galina Karelova, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Kononov spoke about the NTI-Expo project, which has been running for five years and includes, in particular, Russian Health Care Week. "This year, declared by the President of the Russian Federation as the Year of Science and Technology, unfortunately, is coming to an end. But I am confident that the topic of introducing knowledge-intensive technologies will continue to develop, especially in health care and medicine," he said.

Oleg Bochkarev called Russian Health Care Week the best platform. "Because at least once a year we can get together - colleagues working in medicine and industrialists. Here you, the medical professionals, explain to the industrialists what we need to do, what products, what levels of technology, what technical solutions you need from us to treat people.

Dmitry Kurochkin spoke about the work of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Committee on Entrepreneurship in Health Care and expressed the hope that the decisions to be made during the discussions of Russian Health Care Week would serve as an important pledge to solve the problems currently facing health care, the medical industry".

Alexey Vyalkin thanked representatives of more than 700 companies from 25 countries for choosing Expocentre Fairgrounds once again. He assured that the EXPOCENTRE’s team will continue to do its best to make their work as comfortable and fruitful as possible.

Russian Health Care Week 2021 will run until 10 December.
