Russian companies have advanced production facilities and use modern materials and components. Every year, growing competition in the furniture market contributes to the improvement of product quality and strengthening of the positions of manufacturers. The urgent issues of training qualified personnel and organising efficient supply chains are being solved now.”
Sergey Katyrin, President at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation
“This show is no doubt the largest platform in Russia and Eastern Europe, where furniture industry professionals meet to discuss development prospects and demonstrate the latest achievements in the furniture and woodworking industry. Modern furniture production is not only the implementation of design solutions, but also a high-tech process that requires significant investments in innovation, automation and development of supply chains. Mebel 2024 demonstrates accomplishments of Russian furniture production and attracts the attention of international partners to the Russian market.”
Maxim Fateev, Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO

The conference programme of Mebel 2024 featured more than 40 events with leading industry experts. The participants worked out effective solutions to relevant issues concerning state support and provision of raw materials and components for furniture production, improvement of personnel policy, use of modern sales technologies in retail, and development of design art.
Alexander Shestakov, President at the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia
“The furniture industry in Russia is one of the important branches of the whole timber industry. It aims to satisfy the needs of the people directly. Mebel, which has been organised by EXPOCENTRE for 35 years, plays a significant role in this process. The support and participation of more than 1,000 companies, including Russian and foreign manufacturers and suppliers of furniture, components and machine tools, confirm the high rating of the show.”
The programme opened with the 6th Russian Conference of Furniture Manufacturers, organised by the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia (AMEDORO). The plenary session was attended by Anton Alikhanov, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Alexander Shestakov, President at AMEDORO, Timur Irtuganov, General Director at AMEDORO, and leading industry experts.
In his speech, Minister Anton Alikhanov noted the growth of domestic furniture production.
“We have quite good interim results of this year. The furniture industry is growing slightly more than 9% at the end of the first three quarters. I am sure that the dynamics will be above average at the end of this year as well. Last year the market totalled 653 billion rubles. Now we plan to show results higher than last year. The high demand for Russian furniture pulls up the production in other segments, i.e., chipboard, fibreboard and plywood,” said Anton Alikhanov.
The Union of Designers and Architects organised the Business Club for Designers and Architects. It was a four-day marathon for leading design experts to share their effective cases. The moderator was Evgeny Tyurin, President at the Union of Designers and Architects.
The discussion topics included modern trends in furniture design for public spaces: creating a comfortable and functional space; money in design; the relationship between furniture makers and designers, how to work properly and productively, algorithm of success; types of clients and types of designers, how to sell an expensive product?; furniture in the HoReCa segment, unobvious features and important nuances; professional advice from an architect on how to put together a comfortable layout for a private home; etc.
The Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia (AMEDORO) hold a meeting on the expansion of domestic furniture supplies to the HoReCa sector. The participants discussed opportunities to increase volumes and expand the range of Russian-made furniture supplies to hotels, restaurants and cafes.
The meeting was attended by the heads of leading furniture enterprises, as well as representatives of relevant associations. The meeting was moderated by Vadim Prasov, Vice President for the hospitality business at the Federation of Restauranteurs and Hoteliers of Russia.
HoReCa furniture faces a serious problem, which is much more intensive use than in the case of traditional household furniture. Therefore, it should be much more durable and made of stronger materials. These are dense plastic, chrome-plated metal, natural wood, and high-quality textiles. Specialised furniture should be easy to maintain and as safe as possible. At the same time, the furniture should not be bulky and heavy.
Reports were made by Olga Guzhauskayte, founder and CEO at the ART Mebel Hotel and Future Hotel Design, Karine Shmareva, Managing Partner at Intermark Residence, Yana Simonova, Operations Director at Atelika Hotel Group, and other speakers.
WoodworkingSkills 2024, the 5th championship for professionals of the furniture and woodworking industry, was held over three days. It was organised on the initiative of the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia.
This year the nominees competed in two competences: a woodworking machine tool machinist and industrial design in furniture production.
The aim of the event is to give the employees of furniture enterprises an opportunity to improve their professional level, as well as to objectively assess the current level of qualification of a professional.
WoodworkingSkills within Mebel is not only an interesting show, but also a great opportunity to exchange experience and professional life hacks, demonstrate and get acquainted with the advanced technologies that are used in the industry. The event also plays a great role in popularising trade jobs.
