Conference Programme

The show was accompanied by a rich conference programme held in the format of the Business Forum on Electrical Engineering. New Energy of Development. It was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and KVK Imperia Forum.

The show and forum opened with the Strategy Session on the Electrical Market of Russia 2024: New Energy of Challenge.

Experts spoke about three main difficulties that the market was trying to overcome: significant wear and tear of equipment, a high share of imported equipment and the problem of staff shortage. One more problem of the industry, in their opinion, is the high cost of production. Because of this, the competitiveness of domestic electrical equipment is falling, and consumers favour imported analogues.

Viktor Svintsov, Executive Director at the Russian Association of Electrotechnical Companies (RAEC):
“The number of exhibitors has increased significantly over the last three years. This means that the market is in motion, and the show is giving it a powerful impetus.”

The opening of the 7th IEK Championship of Electricians was a spectacular event. This competition is the largest professional event of the year.

Thirty-four participants competed for the title of the Best Electrician in the championship final at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds. The winners received certificates for money prizes, as well as the Skills Passport international certificates of professional skills, which guarantee entry into the international database of electricians.

One of the most expected events of Elektro 2024 was the BRICS+ International Competitions for Electrical Installation Competence, timed to coincide with the final of the Open Championship of Electricians. More than 2,000 people from among the Russian participants applied.

The Section on the BRICS+ International Standard for Electrical Installation Competence: What a Modern Electrician Should Know and Be Able to Do covered the development of advanced competences of high-tech industries, international practice in the development of industrial electrical installation and automation, and nuclear schools of electrical installation as a new industry standard.

The events were held to discuss promising projects and trends of the development of electric machines in Russia, problems of certification and standardisation of electrotechnical products, how and where to raise funds for the development of electrotechnical production.

Alexander Davydov, partner of the consulting division of Luptakov & Partners, expert practitioner, hold a master class to speak about the implementation of lean manufacturing at the enterprises of the electrical industry.

One more important event was the Panel Discussion on Staff Shortage in the Electrical Engineering Industry: Problems of Staff Sourcing in the Context of a Nationwide Shortage of Technical Personnel.

According to the discussion’s moderator, Irina Kulaeva, HR Director at EcoPromCentre, the shortage of personnel is negatively affecting, among other things, the electrical installation services market. The growth of demand for labour exceeds the supply of the labour market. Companies need to adapt to the changed conditions of personnel recruitment and use the general rule that ‘it is cheaper to retain than to attract.’

The speakers touched upon the analytical data of the education market in the Russian electrical engineering, solutions to the problem of personnel shortage in the electrical engineering at the state level, the specifics of interaction between design institutes and universities, the prospects of professional certification in the electrical engineering market, and much more.

The Elektro conference programme also hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the 12th annual competition – ElektroReklama 2024. The best advertising products and creative solutions in the electrical and energy fields were awarded prizes in 10 nominations.  IEK GROUP won in three nominations and also took the Grand Prix, becoming the overall winner of the competition.

The Business Contact Exchange worked during the show in the format of business speed dating. It allowed generating maximum useful business and personal contacts in minimum time, expanding the geography of sales and cooperation, and getting acquainted with potential customers and partners.

According to the testimonials of the show’s exhibitors, Elektro 2024 was a success. Every year it becomes more and more interesting and crowded, and its stands are more vibrant and beautiful. Many exhibitors achieved the desired results from participation in the exhibition.

We are looking forward to seeing you at Elektro 2025!
