EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds has opened its doors to the 36th edition of the Exhibition of Russian Arts and Crafts – Ladya. The Winter Fairytale 2024. The event is organised by the Russian Handicraft and Art Association with the support from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the National Project of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship, and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Its co-organisers are EXPOCENTRE AO and the Russian Cultural Foundation.
The show occupies over 6,500 sq. m to accommodate more than 2,000 crafts companies, creative associations, individual masters and craftsmen from 74 regions of Russia, as well as from Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
As usual Ladya showcases a variety of products of such famous traditional brands as Khokhloma, Gorodets, Rostov finift, Gzhel, Kadomsky veniz, Vologda, Eletsk and Mikhailovsky laces, and many more.
More than 50 Russian regions are showing their products at regional group stands, thanks to the assistance of the Department of Investment Policy and Development of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and the My Business centres functioning within the National Project of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship and Support for Individual Entrepreneurial Initiative.
The central event of Ladya. The Winter Fairytale 2024 is the first stage of the Victorious Russia in the Art of Folk Crafts exhibition and competition organised by the Russian Handicraft and Arts Craft Association with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. Its aim is to preserve a historical memory of the victories of the Russian people and to support folk arts and crafts.
The key event of the Ladya conference programme will be the Canvas Congress. It is a multidisciplinary platform that includes business related events, a competition, and an exhibition. The organisers are the Russian Handicraft and Arts Craft Association and Kosygin Russian State University of Design and Technology. The support is provided by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The whole project held for the young generation of future professional craftsmen and is aimed at identifying the needs of the folk arts and crafts industry, finding solutions and creating conditions for the preservation of traditional culture with the involvement of modern technologies.
In the City of Masters, leading artists and craftsmen will demonstrate old techniques of making handicrafts: painting on wood, fabric and metal, pottery, bone, stone and wood carving, toy modelling, forging, lace weaving, and jewellery art. Here the visitors will discover the secrets of professional craftsmanship. A children's playground with entertaining masterclasses on various types of crafts and trades will be organised for young visitors.
Several government officials and top managers attended the show’s official opening ceremony.
The show is open until December 22.
