The 20th anniversary edition of the International Exhibition for Machinery, Equipment and Technology for Logging, Woodworking and Furniture Industries – Lesdrevmash 2024 – has opened its doors at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia. The show is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia, the Drevmash Russian Association of Organisations and Enterprises of Woodworking Machine Building, and Lestech – the Russian Timber Industry Machinery and Equipment Producers Association, and under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This largest timber show has been the main event for woodworking professionals in Russia for more than 50 years.

Maxim Fateev, Director General at EXPOCENTRE AO, said that this year Lesdrevmash would be held for the 20th time, underlining its status as Russia’s largest event in the logging and woodworking industry.

“The show brings together leading players, investors and representatives of small businesses, which makes it an important platform for the industry’s development,” continued Maxim Fateev. “The 30% increase in the floor space and participation of about 200 companies from different countries demonstrate the growing interest in the event. The demonstration of equipment in operation deserves special attention. It allows everyone to see the entire production cycle from logging to furniture production. Also this year, Lesdrevmash introduces Supplier Day, which will open up new opportunities for international cooperation.”

In addition, Maxim Fateev noted that Lesdrevmash 2024 takes place at the same time as Rusweld 2024, which creates a synergistic effect and additional opportunities for the exchange of innovations between related industries.

Timur Irtuganov, General Director at the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia, emphasised that the equipment for forestry enterprises was mostly imported and most of it was supplied from unfriendly countries.

“But it must be said that in 2022, thanks to the prompt work of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Transport, the supply problem was solved quite quickly by reorienting to other markets,” said Timur Irtuganov. “There are payment problems, but they are also being solved. These and other issues will be discussed during the conference programme of Lesdrevmash 2024. Lesdrevmash is very popular. We are waiting for visitors from all regions of Russia.”

The main topics of this year’s conference programme will be equipping production facilities in the current economic conditions, the Russian national forest certification system, business development, logistics, production automation and personnel training for the timber processing industry.

Lesdrevmash 2024 is open till September 12.
