The 12th Russian Rubber Conference: Traditions and Innovations has taken place today within Tires & Rubber 2024 at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds.
Experts from Russia’s leading research centres made plenary reports on their work in the field of development and production of rubbers, elastomeric materials and products made of them.
Special attention was paid to the results of fundamental and applied research into the structure and properties of rubbers, elastomeric materials and raw materials for their production, as well as to the work aimed at improving production technologies of rubbers, elastomeric materials, tires and rubber products.
Opening the event, Sergey Reznichenko, MIREA – Russian Technological University, Chair at the Conference Organising Committee, noted that 150 delegates had registered for the conference, including representatives of corporations, industrial and trading companies, universities, manufacturing enterprises and businesses. He drew attention to the fact that today this industry has an opportunity to master domestic developments and engage in scientific fundamental work.
“I would like to believe that innovative western developments, which have been used for many years at our enterprises, will be replaced by eastern ones during this difficult period. Our science and technologies will take a worthy place in this country in manufacturing, first of all, tires, rubber products, rubbers, and raw materials for their production. The conference will make us see what new things are being done, and what technological solutions and scientific approaches are being implemented today,” said the moderator.
New solution-type functionalised butadiene styrene rubber made by SIBUR was presented by Natalia Bilalova, Chief Expert at PolyLab Nizhnekamsk, Nizhnekamskneftekhim. She reported that the capacity of synthetic rubber for 2023 had been 1,200,000 tonnes. She also spoke about the functionalisation of the polymer chain, showed the brand range of butadiene styrene synthetic rubber, introduced the test results and spoke about its application.
Valery Papkov, Deputy Director for Research at the Voronezh Branch of Research Institute of Synthetic Rubber, made a report on the 65th anniversary of the branch.
Other reports touched upon the comparative characteristics of solution-type divinyl-styrene synthetic rubbers made with the use of different bio-oils, capabilities of the Russian system of engineering strength analysis CAE Fidesys for modelling rubber products, an analysis of the dynamics of changes in the market of rubber products in Russia, and the SIBUR technical service to support import substitution of rubber products.
The reports made at sectional sessions were aimed at solving relevant problems facing elastomeric science and technology including chemistry, physics of polymers and polymer composites and methods of their research, compounding and new ingredients, and calculation and design of elastomeric materials and products, equipment and production technologies.
The sessions were attended by representatives of Volgograd State Technical University, Reshetnyov Siberian State University of Science and Technology, Research Institute of Synthetic Rubber, Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Cable Industry (VNIIKP), Research Institute of Rubber and Polymer Products (NIIR), MIREA – Russian Technological University, Lider-AV, Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies, SPURT, Polymerteplo Group, and other leading companies of Russia.
