The 5th International Conference on Aluminium Welding: New Developments in Welding, Surfacing in the Production of Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys was held at Expocentre Fairgrounds today within the framework of Russian Industry Week at the site of the International Exhibition for Welding and Cutting Equipment, Technologies and Materials Rusweld 2021. The event organised by the Aluminum Association in partnership with leading companies in the aluminum industry and EXPOCENTRE AO, was held in a hybrid (on-site and off-site) format.

Representatives of the professional communities of welders shared their experience of using aluminum as a high-tech, efficient material with unique consumer properties.

The conference moderator Elena Asanova, Director for Coordination and Interaction with the Market of the Aluminum Association, said: “The conference is held in the format of an open dialogue between manufacturers and customers of materials and equipment, scientific educational organisations, consumers of technologies and materials from different countries, including Russia, Germany, Italy, etc.”.

Co-Chairman of the Aluminum Association Artem Asatura addressed the conference delegates with a welcoming speech. “The development of welding competencies,” he said, “opens up hundreds of prospects for application of aluminum solutions in a wide range of industries: aviation, shipbuilding, automotive, transport, energy, construction, etc. The Aluminum Association, together with the organisers of the Rusweld exhibition, will be able to take another step forward in the development of high-tech industries, provide a wide range of specialists with the latest technologies, equipment, materials, and increase the volume and geography of aluminum welding."

The conference participants discussed properties of welded joints of alloy sheets and plates made by friction stir welding; promising aluminum alloys for use in welded structures; aluminum welding consumables produced in Russia; new technologies for welding light alloys, and many other issues. Representatives of JSC Arkonik SMZ, ILMiT, FGAU Scientific Research Center of SK at N.E. Bauman MST, Avial LLC, Cheboksary enterprise Sespel, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and other participants spoke during the discussion.

Presentations aroused great interest among the professional audience.
