The Forum on INGREDIENTS: Made in Russia has opened within the conference programme of Agroprodmash 2024. The event is organised by the Food Ingredients Producers Union and EXPOCENTRE AO.

The forum is moderated by Tatiana Savenkova, President at the Food Ingredients Producers Union and Director at the Research Institute of Quality, Safety and Technologies of Specialised Food Products at Plekhanov Russian Economic University. According to her, this is the first forum on this topic organised at Agroprodmash, which has the largest showcase of ingredients. For the last almost 30 years, Russian producers have been using imported ingredients. Therefore, today the industry faces a difficult task of import substitution of a large range of products.

Russia produces about 30 types of food additives out of 350 allowed for circulation and use, but the volume of their production does not cover even 3% of the domestic demand. The tasks of raw material localisation have come to the forefront for all food manufacturers.

Given the growing trend of economic isolation, the development of domestic production of both mono-commodity components, ingredients, specialty chemicals, and complex synthesis products becomes a strategic necessity. And the development of this niche segment (the ingredients industry) is the main task in achieving the goals of technological sovereignty in the sphere of food security and ensuring the functioning of the food industry.

Expert assessment of the status and trends in the main segments of ingredients will help food manufacturers to better navigate the world of innovations and new technological solutions for various industries.

At the forum, ingredient market participants, leading manufacturers and suppliers of ingredients and raw materials, as well as companies implementing investment projects in this area, share their expert assessment of the state of the segments of the ingredients industry, the main trends of development, and the changes in the market conditions during 10 years of sanctions. The participants discuss relevant issues of business activity, approaches to industrial cooperation, and the formation of good manufacturing practices.
