A large audience of manufacturers and importers of food, food raw materials and ingredients, tobacco and nicotine products, animal feed, packaging, catering and retailers gathered for a specialised PRACTICUM. Food Products: Mandatory Requirements, Introduction and Promotion Tools for the Food Market. Turning Barriers into Opportunities.
The event was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the Food Ingredients Producers Union and ROSTEST within Prodexpo 2023, the International Exhibition for Food, Beverages, Food Raw Materials.
Tatiana Savenkova, President of Food Ingredients Producers Union, Director of the Research Institute for Quality, Safety and Technology of Specialised Food Products at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, and Nina Moschenskaya, Director General of ROSTEST, Deputy Chairman of the standing Committee on the Activities of Certification Bodies under the Public Council of the Federal Accreditation Service, acted as moderators.
The topics of the practicum, as Tatiana Savenkova noted, are not accidentally announced on the platform of the leading food exhibition. These are state oversight in the market, fulfilment of mandatory requirements for food products and declaration. These are tools to promote the food market, reference points for doing business and producing foodstuffs, their safety and quality. A bona fide industry business has systemic approaches in its area of responsibility that correlate with the interests of consumers. The most important thing is to provide the population with high quality and affordable products, she stressed.
How to combine standards, requirements, methods, state supervision, certification, declaration, responsibility? Alexey Mednikov, Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, tried to answer this question in his presentation. In his opinion, it would be useful to create a digital information base for the correct classification of food products and their requirements.
Representatives of Rospotrebnadzor, the Eurasian Economic Commission, relevant research institutes and industry companies also took part in the discussion. Experience and tried-and-tested solutions in the area of conformity and good practice in product circulation were exchanged. The experts talked about proper declaration and labelling, modern tools for promoting products on the food market, organising cost-effective production control, and other relevant issues.
