The Conference on Ice Cream Production in the Current Conditions: Ways of Solving Relevant Problems took place within the conference programme of Agroprodmash 2024. The event was organised by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with Russian Research Institute of the Refrigeration Industry and with the support of the Moscow Department of Trade and Services.

The first part of the conference was devoted to summarising the results of the Moscow Quality 2024 competition and awarding certificates to its winners in the Ice Cream category.

Vladimir Platonov, President at the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), said in his opening speech that the contest had been held since 1997 and had been constantly improving. ‘The main thing is that it takes into account the opinion of Muscovites. Muscovites have an opportunity to speak out and thus regulate the quality of products sold in Moscow. This process maintains the quality level not only of products, but also of services. About 300 thousand residents of the capital voted for the best ice cream within the Active Citizen project this year,’ said Vladimir Platonov.

Ice cream brands were selected in two stages. First, the rating of the most sold varieties was made. Then, buyers named the most favourite brands of ice cream. After the survey, the products were given for tasting and testing in a laboratory. As a result, 39 contenders for the top spot made it to the finals. Producers whose ice cream was among the best will be able to place the Moscow Quality sign on the packaging. The list of winners will be published on the website of the Moscow Quality programme.

Several industry professionals made reports in the second part of the conference. The participants were given an overview of the ice cream market in Russia and learned about current methods of ice cream st

orage to preserve its quality, technical solutions for product labelling, production optimisation issues, and many others.
