The conference programme of Neftegaz 2024 has hosted the Panel on Liquefied Natural Gas. Features of Project Implementation, Innovative Solutions in the Fuel and Energy Sector. The event was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and the National Association of Liquefied Natural Gas.

The event was moderated by Pavel Sarafannikov, President and Chair at the Board of the National Association of Liquefied Natural Gas. He noted in his welcoming speech that today, despite sanctions from unfriendly countries, we still find ways to bring to life our projects and ambitious plans in the field of both LNG and the entire domestic fuel and energy sector.

Khadzhimurat Saadulaev, Head of the Oil and Gas Equipment Development Division at the Department of Machine Building for the Fuel and Energy Sector of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, spoke about government support measures for the LNG industry, as well as a new approach to import substitution of oil and gas equipment. He pointed out that he first sanctions had been imposed on the Russian fuel and energy sector in 2014. At that time they affected equipment for the development of offshore fields. However, the sanctions were extended to all segments of the Russian oil and gas industry, including LNG, in 2022. That is why our main goal in the current environment is to ensure uninterrupted operation of fuel and energy facilities.

Alexander Klimentiev, First Vice President at the Scientific and Expert Council of the National Association of Liquefied Natural Gas, reported on an independent information support system for the LNG industry. This system includes many different materials and resources dedicated to the LNG sector, including the Map of the Russian LNG Industry, the SK Index, the LNG Calculator, and many others. Alexander Klimentiev also presented a brief overview of the LNG sector, outlining what the domestic industry may face in the near future, what challenges to expect, and how production will be able to cope with them.

Alexander Adoevsky, General Director at IAS Engineering and Consulting, spoke about the specifics of large-capacity LNG project implementation in the current realities. He pointed out that it is possible to monetise large quantities of drive gas only through the production of large-capacity liquefied natural gas, as alternative options imply a limitation in the form of a final sales market.

In addition, there was a report on the introduction of low-tonnage LNG technologies. Its participants learnt about plans to build ships fuelled by alternative fuels.
