Show Highlights

  • The participants included Russia’s leading research and educations institutions which develop and introduce new products, have their own production facilities and train professionals for the chemical industry: the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia, Saint-Petersburg State Institute of Technology, Tver State University, Institute of Solid State Physics, Skryabin Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms, Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds, Grebeschikov Institute of Silicate Chemistry, Komi Institute of Chemistry, Engineering Chemical Technological Center of Tomsk State University, and Topchiev Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis.

  • The new Area of VR/AR for Chemical Industry. VR and AR technologies help to provide effective training for staff of chemical enterprises, familiarise them with equipment, teach the correct course of action in regular and emergency situations, and increase efficiency and safety of chemical production. Russian developers CROC, VR Concept and Modum Lab showed their industrial VR/AR solutions. The showcase featured the latest products for the VR/AR market such as the Teslasuit AR/VR suit and and TAU Tracker gloves, which allowed making the work in the virtual space as close as possible to the work in real conditions.
  • Startup ChemZone offered small innovative companies, residents of technology parks and young entrepreneur centres in Russian colleges and universities an opportunity to generate more clients and partners, find new funding sources and get feedback from professionals of their targeted industry sectors.

  • The Employment Centre gave information about current job offers of exhibiting companies, posted CVs, and offered professional career development consultations.
  • The Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions project helped to minimize counterfeit products showcased at exhibitions and illegal copying of new exhibits.

Supporting Events

The key event of Khimia 2019 was the 7th Moscow International Chemical Forum, organised by the Russian Chemists Union in association with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Chimvest Scientific and Technical Centre and Expocentre AO. It consisted of 12 events. The plenary session was devoted to innovation, investments and ecology in the chemical industry.

For the second year in a row the Russian Chemists Union organised the Five Stars. Chemical Industry Leaders competition. Its award  ceremony was held within the Forum. The winners  were companies which introduce innovative technologies, increase labour productivity and are committed to active social policy.

The Chemistry 4.0 Industrial Session was devoted to digital transformation and AI in the chemical industry.

A panel on investments in high-tech chemistry was organised by Business Russia and Mendeleev Accelerator.

The Russian Chemists Union signed two agreements: one with the LevMedia PR agency working in the telecom market, the other one with Mendeleev Accelerator, which helps to involve the research community in business practices.

The topic of the Forum’s third day was the closed-loop economy, recycling technology, ecology management. After the event the Russian Chemists Union signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Ecology Society.

The foresight-session Leaders and Professionals of the Future for young professionals and a meeting of the Council for Professional Qualifications in the Chemical and Biotechnological Industries concluded the Forum. The Council signed а partnership agreement with Integrad.

The special area for VR/AR for the chemical industry featured the panel on virtual and augmented reality in production: technology and management related aspects. Representatives of CROC, Modum Lab and VR Concept talked about their experience in developing VR solutions for such companies as Sibur, BIOCAD and Rosneft. One more important event was the Conference on VR and AR Technologies for the Chemical Industry.

The consultation centre of the Russian Export Centre was organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Russian Export Centre and Expocentre AO.

This year the workshop on supercritical fluid nanotechnologies: innovative green chemistry technologies was supported by the Fund of Infrastructural and Educational Programmes. The workshop featured reports on modern achievements in the field of applied nanomaterials and functional materials, and supercritical fluid technologies. It welcomed scientists, professors from universities and research institutes, and representatives of the chemical industry and start-up projects.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2019 the International Year of the Periodic Table. Khimia offered a special showcase devoted to the 150th anniversary of Dmitry Mendeleev’s Table. Its exhibits included various types of the table from old printed ones to modern interactives samples, a virtual study room of Mendeleev and a molecular bar. The showcase also featured the Mendeleev Periodic Table, Russian Chemical Science and Innovations, Chemical Products: Familiar Unknown and Global Chemical Industry tours around the exhibition. All tours enjoyed great success.

The participants showed their accomplishments and new solutions in workshops and master classes in a separate Presentation Area.
