On 14 January, at the 4th Russian Family Entrepreneurship Forum “Successful Family - Successful Russia!”, EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds hosted an open dialogue between family businesses and representatives of federal and regional authorities, development institutions, SME support infrastructure organisations, business associations, and the expert and scientific community.

The Forum has been held by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2018. This large-scale event, which now brings together at least 3,000 companies from 85 Russian regions, has become the central annual event for the development of family entrepreneurship in our country.

Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, took part in the Forum. He noted that family businesses are the backbone of the economies of many countries. In Russia, according to the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, about three quarters of all small and medium-sized companies are family businesses, which have reached a serious level thanks to the hard work of all family members. These include farms, furniture workshops, private bakeries, shops and much more.

The prime minister spoke in detail about measures being taken to support family businesses, such as subsidised lending programmes. In addition, the year before last, as an anti-crisis measure during the pandemic, the government for all small and medium-sized businesses reduced insurance premiums on the part of wages, which exceeded the minimum wage, from 30% to 15%. This decision allowed small and medium-sized businesses to save about 480 billion roubles last year, Mikhail Mishustin said.

Participants in the plenary session of the Forum, moderated by Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focused their presentations on "SMEs in Regional Economies: How to Create Sources of Growth?”

The Forum included a banking session "Financial and Banking Solutions for Business: Challenges and Opportunities" hosted by Elena Dybova, Vice President of the CCI of Russia, a discussion platform "Branding and Promotion of Family Business", and training for participants in the CCI of Russia special project "100 Business Hopes" on the Art of Sales.

Expert speeches and discussions were devoted to legislative initiatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation in the area of developing family entrepreneurship, creating a family brand and comprehensive promotion of companies, improving financial literacy of entrepreneurs and many other issues. The expert sessions were attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments, regional executive authorities, family businesses, public organisations, industry associations, academia and universities.

The results of the 2021 special project of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry "100 Business Hopefuls" were also summarised, an award ceremony for the winners among its participants was held, the results of the competitive selection of family businesses to participate in the special project "100 Family Companies under the patronage of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation" were announced, and the programme of events for the 2022 project was launched.

At the end of the Forum, Alexey Vyalkin, Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
